SUWS Programs puts Families First!!
All families that enroll their sons and daughters in SUWS are looking for change—change from old ways, destructive patterns, abusive reactions, and splitting relationships. Although the development of these negative patterns is different, the work families and their children do now will determine their future success and happiness.
SUWS Family Camp is designed to give families a unique experience utilizing the wilderness elements in which their child is already engaged. Facilitated mid-treatment by our Clinical Team, students and their Parents are guided on a 5-day wilderness journey which address specific treatment themes, supports long-term planning, and provides a clinically supervised opportunity to reconnect! Highlights of the Program include:
- Child/Parent/Program Integration
- Parenting Workshop
- Family Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Adventure Based Therapy Activities
- “Walk-in-my-shoes” Experiences
- Desert Living
- Transition Planning Support
Wilderness therapy is a powerful intervention. Youth and adults alike experience insight and change unparalleled to conventional forms of therapy. Family Camp is a unique opportunity to blend the experience your child is having into your own awareness and to develop a common thread that will bind you and begin to weave the fabric of a new, more functional and fulfilling relationship with your child.
We are excited to provide this powerful opportunity for our families!!
